In my Honors/College American History class I had students do research about the experiences of immigrants to America that came during the "New" Immigration Pattern (1890-1917). They completed their research on Google Slides.  When they were done with the research I gave them a choice to complete one of  3 projects.
  1. Create a silent film with dialogue cards to depict the role of immigrants in America’s industrial  rise. Include both positive and negative aspects of life for an immigrant worker.
  2. Write a persuasive speech trying to convince Americans we need or don’t need immigration restrictions (walls, laws).
  3. Research a piece of American art or scientific finding that was created or developed by an immigrant to the U.S. Create a slides presentation.
I told them I wanted something that flowed logically and incorporated the research they had done in the Google Slides. Here are two wonderful examples of student creativity.
